Children’s Birthday Parties

Location: We have the option that we can bring the party to you – this can be in the home or a local hall or venue of your choice. For parties off-site we can even provide the food and cake if desired. At our Claydon centre there is a choice of hot or cold food, party games and a “mix and match” of workshops and playing in the Discovery centre, where we would be pleased to host your party.

Dates: The Kinetic team are always busy with parties and so we recommend reserving a date as soon as possible and the type of party could be decided later. If you have an idea of times as well then, we can see what time slots are available.

Plan of the party: All parties are for a two-hour duration, however we can make the party last longer but this comes at an extra cost. We suggest always having the food at the end of the party and so the offer will be made with timings to suit ending with the food. We do not have the facilities for you to bring your own food, however we also offer a party package without the food if required. If having food, the entertainment will last approximately 1.5 hours. All party packages include a party host to ensure you have a good time.

Type of party: There are lots of different parties to choose from. We have several rooms full of exhibits and activities for the children to explore as part of the party package. Our parties include the food in the per head price and extras are available eg, Birthday cake. A Birthday Party begins with a traditional party game to create a party atmosphere, however this can be left out if required. A minimum of 12 children are required per party if having a package or why not visit and play for a discounted price to the centre.

Starting with the party game to get the party atmosphere, then you can either have an hour long play in the Discovery centre or if you wish to add a Workshop then we allow 30 minutes for the workshop, 30 minutes play in the centre and 30 minutes for the food and cake ceremony. If we bring the party to you then we will entertain the children for 1.5 hours.

Workshop choices:

• Lego workshop – making a particular Lego model.
• Volcano making – design a volcano out of dough, paint and try the volcano
• Kitchen Chemistry – experiments that are fun and interactive
• Potions – try out different liquids and colours
• Mini experiments – lots of different “Lab” activities
• Slime – make slime to take home
• Air Rockets- This is only possible on a “dry” day and needs space to launch them
• Arts and Crafts Workshop for 1.5 hours (choice of items to make & take home)
• Crime Solver & Forensics – take your fingerprints and other fun activities
• Christmas Parties or themed parties for Groups, eg Halloween – 2 hours (min of 20 children) including food

N.B. not all these workshops are available for external venues.

Food Options

You can select one item only for both main course and dessert –

• Hot food for example choices include Pizza slices, Hot dogs, Chicken Goujons
• Cold Food options include, Finger Buffet, Sandwiches and Crisps or Wraps
• Dessert options include, Jelly and Ice Cream, cupcakes or Churros and dip

Next steps: If you wish to book a party, then email us back with a proposed date and we will send you a booking form. The completion of the form reserves the date. You can resend this form again later with the food choices and an idea of numbers. Once we receive this and your deposit then the party is reserved for you. Later, you can decide on the party plan and food options. We will ask for final numbers 48 hours before the party and this is the number you will pay for on the day. Please note our minimum number of guests is 12 and so even if you invite 8 children you will be required to pay for 12 on the day. If there are any extras that you require then do let us know eg, celebration cake, balloons, gifts, goody bags, entertainer (eg Circus skills) etc.

Groups Themed Parties

Location: If you are a group that would like a special party then let us bring the party to you – this can be in a local hall or venue of your choice. For parties off-site we can even provide the food and cake if desired. Party in a Box

Unable to go to a venue or our centre (maybe you have a poorly child or are unable to travel), then let us bring the party to you in a box. The box can include any items from our list, Balloons, Streamers, Banners, party game suggestions that are played without mobility, wrapped pass the parcel, prizes, party hats, crackers, tablecloths, paper cups and paper plates, straws, candles for the cake etc

Food is an extra option and bottles of children’s drinks. There is also an option to purchase a cake.

Private Party Hire

We do offer the chance to privately hire and have exclusive use of the Discovery centre. There will still be staff on site to make sure your party is a success and then you can have the building to yourself. Contact us for more details if you would like to know more.
